Cut & Thrust

Armour Requirements

Some kingdoms have additional armour requirements for Cut & Thrust that are above and beyond Society minimums. We have gone through each of the kingdom's rules looking for additions to the Society's rules, these are our findings. Only kingdoms with publically active cut & thrust programs are listed here.

Footnotes

  1. Quote from the Ansteorra Kingdom rules: At a minimum, a fighter should wear commercially available "street hocky" style elbows
  2. Quote from the Midrealm Kingdom rules: Cut-and-Thrust Swordplay is first and foremost a training partnership. It establishes the place where the Period Art and Science of Combat combines with that we call 'fighting'. It is a place where the Art is the Fight. Victory is not declared simply by 'who hit whom first' but is realized by how well each participant used his or her knowledge of period technique to strike their partner.
  3. Resilient Padding is defined in the West Kingdom rules as any material that absorbs some of the force of a blow. Examples include, but are not limited to:
    1. 1/4 inch (6 mm) closed cell foam
    2. 5 mm neoprene (mouse pads)
    3. 8 ounce (4 mm) leather
  4. Quote from the Gleann Ahbann rules: Standard abrasion-resistant gloves alone will not be sufficient, unless the hilt of the sword protects the area in question.
